Alexandra Vasile has been on an absolute tear for the Holtville Bulldogs this season.
The girls basketball team is off to one of its best starts in program history with an 11-0 record, and Vasile has had her hands all over the team’s production this season.
“She is a very quick player, and is our floor general out there on the floor,” Holtville coach Clint Pitchford said.
Vasile is solidifying herself as one of the best guards in Class 4A this season, as she has scored 181 points for an average of 16.5 per game this year to go along with 40 rebounds so far. She is the Elmore County Player of the Week.
Vasile is a part of Holtville’s "Fabulous Five,” who are leading the Bulldogs to unprecedented heights.
“They all have a uniqueness to their games and I have been preaching leadership and team chemistry this year, because those are the jets to success both on and off the court,” Pitchford said.
Vasile is always seeking scoring possibilities and plays as if there is one each time she touches the ball.
In its most recent game at home, the Bulldogs bested the Elmore County Panthers, 55-44. Vasile went wild, finishing with 32 points, four rebounds and three assists. Vasile has the ability to light up the perimeter with her shooting, proving it with an astonishing six 3-pointers made against the Panthers.
