Thornton, Sr., Mr. Charles Thomas, age 78, a resident of Wetumpka passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Mr. Thornton was born on November 21, 1938. He is survived by his wife, Gayle Edwards Thornton of Wetumpka, AL; 2 sons, Charles Thomas “Tommy” (Linda) Thornton, Jr. of Gales Ferry, CT and Edward George Thornton of Wetumpka, AL; 3 daughters, Martha (Keith) Elmore of Montgomery, AL, Emily Gilbert of Wetumpka, AL and Gayle (Lloyd) Peters of Montgomery, AL; 2 brothers, James Timothy (Angie) Callahan of Snellville, GA and Dale Cayer of Baltimore, MD; 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Sweeney. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 9, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. George Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Good Hope Baptist Cemetery with Wetumpka Memorial Funeral Home directing. The family will recieve friends from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday at the church.
