Highlights range from moody portraits of astronauts Nichole Ayers and Zena Cardman, to a quirky documentary photograph of a simulated moonwalk in the San Francisco Volcanic Field in Northern Arizona.

NASA's Johnson Space Center commented: "Check out some of these images taken by the winners of NASA's seventh annual Photographer of the Year awards. Their vision and expertise give us some of the best views possible.

"Congratulations to all of the winners, including Johnson's very own Josh Valcarcel, Bill Stafford, and Helen Arase Vargas."
