Holtville girls soccer coach David Lovering pleaded guilty to third-degree domestic violence harassment after being arrested in early April, according to court documents. The charge is a Class A misdemeanor.
Lovering was sentenced to 30 days in jail which was suspended for 12 months probation. He is currently in the process of an appeal and his next hearing is in August.
At the same time these charges were brought, Lovering was in the midst of a contested divorce, according to court documents.
“That had nothing to do with any student in Elmore County to my knowledge,” Elmore County Schools superintendent Richard Dennis said. “This was not something that occurred as his responsibility or as an employee of Elmore County.”
The Herald has contacted the person listed as Lovering’s attorney, according to court documents. But the call was placed after business hours and the attorney likely has not had opportunity to respond.
