A call of someone asleep in a parked car at the Wetumpka Walmart turned into a Class A felony arrest.

The Wetumpka Police Department was notified about 5:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 of a driver ā€œpassed outā€ in a parked car.

ā€œWhen officers got there, the subjects were asleep in the front seat,ā€ Wetumpka police Maj. Ed Gumpf said. ā€œThey could see drug paraphernalia in the driver's lap. Once they got them out, they patted the driver down and found drugs, more paraphernalia and a stolen weapon.ā€

Gumpf said officers found more than 26 grams of methamphetamine, more than four grams of cocaine, a stolen pistol and more drug paraphernalia on Matthew Potts, 36, of Hampton, Georgia.

Potts was booked into the Elmore County Jail on the Class A felony trafficking fentanyl, the Class B felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, the Class C felony receiving stolen property, two counts of the Class D felony possession of a controlled substance and the Class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Potts remains in the Elmore County Jail with a $1,546,000 bond available to him.
