A Wetumpka police officer will serve a two-day suspension without pay after an internal investigation revealed the officer harassed a Wetumpka High student on school grounds.
A departmental report from acting Chief Lt. Robert Silwowski to Mayor Jerry Willis says officer David Fletcher violated department and city personnel policies when he questioned a WHS student about her current address.
The childās mother filed a complaint on Aug. 8 saying that Fletcher āquestioned (the child) heavily.ā
The mother said the officerās actions were made at the request of her husband with whom she is involved in a āheated divorce case.ā
The mother said in her complaint to the city that she believes the action is āa ploy to have (the child) removed from school in order to help him gain custody.ā
Following the investigation, it was determined Fletcherās conduct was āunbecoming an officerā and his actions were āexcessive, unwarranted or unjustified.ā
