These are my last days at Tallapoosa Publishers. The past three years have been a wonderful journey. I am very humbled by everyone in the Tallapoosa County community, especially my primary townships of Dadeville and Camp Hill. The warmth and kindness I have received from each community is hard to even put into words.
I greatly appreciate being the one to take your photos at community events, report on big changes to come and spotlight the amazing businesses and organizations in our Lake Martin area. You also have all been very gracious about accepting me as a vegetarian, most of the time.
While I will miss this little corner of the world, I know you are all still in good hands. I cannot say enough great things about the TPI staff, especially my fellow news team. I know the new Dadeville beat reporter, Sarah Chase, will do an outstanding job and will fall in love with this community as I have.
I did not mean to leave you in suspense on what my next chapter is. I will be moving to Atlanta to be a communications specialist with the International Society of Arboriculture. Getting a job in the communications field is something I have been working towards for years now.
I started a master’s program at Columbus State University back in 2023, and I have been doing that part-time on the side. While I haven’t graduated yet, I am excited to use my journalism skills and what I have learned in my master’s program toward my new career.
Again, thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to work with you and support the Lake Martin community through journalism. I am so grateful I had the opportunity to work here and meet all of you.
I know this community will continue to grow in so many wonderful and beautiful ways.
Abigail Murphy is the Dadeville beat reporter for Tallapoosa Publishers Inc.
