The Fayette Police Department investigated a burglary and theft of property that occurred at Bynum GMC on Tuesday, July 29 at approximately 9 p.m. The crime resulted in the theft of three vehicles, valued in excess of $250,000.
Fayette Police Lieutenant Michael Kelley investigated the incident, and his report states that a 2025 Yukon Denali Ultimate, valued at $101,568; a 2025 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali Ultimate, valued at $91,392; and a 2025 GMC Sierra AT4, valued at $69,838 were taken during the burglary. Keys to all of the vehicles on the premises were taken during the theft, and two windows of the dealership, where the burglars gained access, were also broken.
Fayette Police Corporal Jordan Roberts said that the stolen Yukon was recovered on Saturday, Aug. 2 in Pelham, and a person who was driving the vehicle was taken into custody by the Pelham Police Department. Jordan said the name of the person taken into custody is not being released at this time, and added that he is currently being detained in the Shelby County Jail.
Jordan said the incident is an on-going investigation, and numerous law enforcement agencies are currently involved in the investigation.
