The state added more than 300 cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.

As of noon Saturday, there are cumulatively 13,839 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state.

In the last 14 days, there have been 4,190 cases confirmed with 70,543 tests given. Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 182,107 tests given throughout the state, according to ADPH.

In the last 24 hours, Elmore County added seven cases to now be at 246 confirmed cases. Elmore County has seven COVID-19 deaths.

Tallapoosa County added seven new confirmed cases of COVID-19, now at 391. The county’s death count has increased by one, now at 62 total deaths from the coronavirus.

Coosa County's confirmed case count is still at 33 with one death.

Statewide, there have been 541 deaths due to COVID-19. ADPH reports only confirmed COVID-19 deaths. The criteria for death counts now include people who died with a positive COVID-19 laboratory test as well as individuals whose death certificates list COVID-19 as the cause of death.

Thursday night the Alabama Department of Public Health added a presumed recoveries category, which will be updated weekly, to its statistic dashboard.

Of the more than 13,000 cumulative confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus across the state, there have been 7,951 presumed recoveries in the state according to this week's numbers.

"Cases are presumed recovered if it has been 14 days or more since the case tested positive if they were not hospitalized, or if it has been 32 days or more since the case tested positive if they were hospitalized or if hospitalization was unknown," ADPH wrote in a Facebook post. "All deaths excluded."

Statewide, the ADPH is reporting 182,107 total tested. In Tallapoosa County, there have been 2,517 tests counted by ADPH, 248 in Coosa County and 2,614 in Elmore County.

There have been 1,583 hospitalizations across the state since March 13, according to ADPH. This is a decrease of 171 hospitlizations that were reported on ADPH's dashboard Wednesday.

ADPH spokesperson Arrol Sheehan provided this statement from ADPH's Dr. Karen Landers earlier this week:

"The Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) dashboard updates on a regular basis. ADPH receives reports from multiple laboratories through multiple methods ... This is an ongoing process to refine data and ensure accuracy ... Please note that all data is provisional and subject to change."

Since March 13, there have been 536 patients in intensive care units and 318 on a ventilator. In the medical field, 1,873 healthcare workers in hospitals and doctors' offices have tested positive. When it comes to long-term care facilities, 859 employees and 1,335 residents have tested positive for COVID-19.
